Estella

In class we were discovering Estella the character from Great Expectations. And we figured that she had lots of different sides to her that could be expressed through make-up with the choice of shape and colour to the face. I was working in a group of 3 with lily and miheala. When it was my turn to experiment, miheala was the model and lily and I both had half a face each. We had mapped out some spider diagrams of our ideas and planned the makeup that we wanted to create. 

This was my side of the face and the personality that interested me was the cold hearted mean side of Estella and I wanted to create a dark looking side to her. I decided that I wanted dark eyes and blue lips to show the deep dark coldness of her heart.

Personality ideas

As I progressed with my design for Estella, I was mainly focusing on which personality that would contribute to my design and make it the best one. I decided to experiment with colour and different attitudes to Estella and this was my favourite one...

I chose these types of colours because I had to adapt to my model and she had dark skin and a pale face and pink colours wouldn't of suited her face and wouldn't of made her look like Estella. I had a lot of thinking and debating to do about my design because there was a lot of concepts that I had to think about. I went for the gold tear design because even though Estella seems to be a mean character, you can see the love she has for pip in her eyes and because she is not allowed to show her affection it is to be believed that she is crying on the inside and that's what I wanted to pursuit with my design.
