Analysis of Estella

Estella is a very strange character and it feels like she can't have her own 'say' in anything but has to do what Miss Havisham tells her to do because that is what she has been brought up to know. Every woman has the feeling of 'love' and for it to be taken away from someone just because the second person has been hurt and betrayed, is so unfortunate. Miss Havisham thinks that she can influence Estella to be heartless. As I watched the BBC series, I felt that, in her expressions, I saw the pain she felt of developing feelings for Pip and not being able to pursue them. There are certain parts where I feel like Estella is putting a 'front' on to protect Pip but seeing as that Pip has no idea what is going on, because of the misguidance, he keeps following her around like a dog and doing anything to prove himself to her, but obviously she knows that they are never going to be together. In my design process, I want to create a look of 'hidden feelings' which may be teardrops or dark colours to represent her darkness but also make it look like that it is all just a front. I also want to experiment with different kinds of designs and aspects to open my knowledge and view of Estella to create how I actually see her as a character.

Here, Estella is young and has no idea about feelings and boys so she can be mean and it would not affect her, although she can feel friendship but in this picture she looks like a little madam seaking revenge for her 'mother'. 

Estella is a grown woman now and is coming to terms with everything that is going on and accepting them as a front but hiding everything inside and her facial expressions and the way she is, just explains it all in this image.

This image of the film shows the love for Estella in Pips eyes and the posture of Estella, says that she has a bit of a guard up in this scene but by looking at it you can see the love. Estella's personality can be hard to read at times.

I think that this is the scene where they both truly fall in love with each other and Estella is all dressed in cream which throws away her evil side and makes her personality look a bit softer and as if she is an actual lady doing what she wants to do.
